A Pause Worth Writing About: Penmanship & Presence With Pineider

In the midst of Pitti Uomo’s usual flurry of tailored silhouettes and sartorial snapshots, No Chaser found a moment to exhale. On June 18th, tucked into the elegant intimacy of Pineider’s flagship on Via de’ Tornabuoni in Florence, a small group of our closest friends and tastemakers gathered for something refreshingly analog — a penmanship
workshop.

For those who’ve followed our journey, you know Pineider is no. stranger to us. We’ve strolled their boutiques in Milan and Florence and are regulars at their New York outpost. But this moment felt different. It was quieter. Slower. Intentional.

Under the vaulted ceilings of their Florence atelier, guests were invited to breathe — literally. A few calming exercises set the tone before fingers met fountain pens. For some, it was a return to a familiar ritual. For others, it was the first time ink met paper in such a deliberate, tactile way. In a world of tapping thumbs and glowing screens, it was like rediscovering a lost dialect.

Founded in 1774, Pineider has always stood at the intersection of craftsmanship and culture. Their legacy — from ink to paper, leather to lettering — has touched the hands of writers, statesmen, and lovers for centuries. To hold one of their pens is to hold a story in motion. It’s a reminder that style isn’t just worn — it’s written.  This workshop wasn’t about calligraphy or perfection. It was about presence. About
the way posture shifts when you’re writing by hand.  About how time slows. About how a single line of ink can say more than a thousand digital characters. Guests left with stained fingers, and a renewed appreciation for the subtle power of handwriting.
It was a welcome interlude — a rare, quiet elegance during one of fashion’s busiest weeks. But more than anything, it was a reminder: style lives in the details. And sometimes, the most stylish thing you can do is sit down, breathe, and write it out.

Grazie, Pineider, for keeping the ink flowing.

Worth the read.
